âWho wants a pint?â Harry asks, standing up from the table.
Weâre seated at The Queenâs Arms, and he has his eyes set on the bar.
âPints all around!â Mohammad chants, buzzing from Kensingtonâs win.
âIâll take one,â Noah says, leaning back in the booth seat, looking relaxed.
I raise my eyebrows at him in surprise. Because Noah has been very serious about his health lately.
âJust one to celebrate,â he tells us.
âIâll have one then,â I say, looking at Harry. âBut make mine a cider, please.â
âShitty choice, but noted,â Harry says, shooting me a wink before heading up to the bar.
I remember being told that they serve the boys pints here and thatâs why they love this pub. But I didnât expect for them to get away with it during the day. Maybe at night, when the lights are low and itâs busy, like when I first met Harry here, but not with Noah in a high school football uniform.
âWill he actually get served?â I ask Mohammad, whoâs seated across from me.
âYeah, the owner doesnât mind,â Mohammad replies, nodding at the man behind the bar. âWeâve been coming here for years, and Harry knows him well.â
âHarry seems to know everyone well,â I comment, watching him laugh with the owner as he places our drink order.
âHe does. But he only lets a few people in,â Noah replies.
Harry brings the pints back to the table, two in each hand. His blue eyes are shining, and heâs wearing a grin on his face.
âThree beers and a cider,â he says, setting the glasses on the table.
We each take one in our hands.
âCheers,â Mohammad says, holding up his glass.
âCongrats again, mate. Honestly, well done,â Harry says, clinking his pint against Noahâs.
âThanks,â Noah says, flushing as we all toast to him.
I take a sip of the cider, the bubbles tickling my mouth.
âCould this day get any better?â Mohammad asks, soaking in the glory of Noahâs win after he finishes off his first pint.
âWell, I think it might. Arenât you hoping to meet a fairy godmother tonight? She might make all your wishes come true,â I say with a grin.
âA fairy godmother?â Mohammad asks, looking confused.
âShit, is Naomi supposed to surprise you with her costume?â I quickly ask. Because if I just gave away the surprise, Iâd feel so guilty.
âNot that I know of,â Mohammad replies. âShe was going to tell me what she found this morning, but we got sidetracked with the other conversation, and it never came up.â
âWhatâs she dressing up as?â Harry asks, sitting up to listen like heâs just joining in on the conversation.
âA fairy godmother. You know, like the one in Cinderella. Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo,â I clarify, waving around an invisible wand like she does in the movie.
âThatâs a unique idea,â Noah says approvingly.
âIt is original,â I admit.
âCinderella ⦠well, I can be her Prince Charming then,â Mohammad says, trying to piece everything together.
I shake my head.
âNo, sheâs the fairy godmother for Cinderella. Sheâs the one who makes it all happen. Arranges the transformation. Turns the pumpkin into a carriage.
